February 09, 2021
2021 has brought freezing temperatures to our region. Staying warm is very important for all members of the family. We are teaming up with United States Fire Administration to help "Put a Freeze on Winter Fires." Already this season we have seen fires increase in our community. As we warm-up safely, lets remember some fire safety tips:
- Half of all home heating fires occur in December, January, and February.
- 1 in every 7 home fires and 1 in ever 5 home fire deaths involve some type of heating equipment.
- Remember to keep at burnable items at least three feet away from ignition sources.
- Keep all portable generators running outside and as far from windows as possible.
- Install and test carbon monoxide detectors at least once a month.
- Have a qualified individual or vendor clean your heating system, chimney, and vents each year.
Stay warm and safe this winter season.
