IMU 18 was dispatched to McNett Township, for a family of five that ended up getting lost along the trails of Devil’s Elbow National Area following a thunderstorm on Sunday, May 15th. Family consisted of two adults, three children, and family dog. Family got turned around when they took shelter during a thunderstorm. When the storm passed, the family tried to find their way back out of the trail area and resulted in getting lost. Fire crews were alerted to the incident and established search and staging area on Ellenton Mountain Road. Assisting in the search were Pennsylvania State Police, Helicopter, Drones, and Even Laurel Mountain Search and Rescue Dogs. Family was reported being located and uninjured approximately 18 hours later. Even though the trails and search area were in Lycoming County, Crews from Bradford County were also dispatched.
